A common prayer is offered to the local deity before this procession begins. A specific form of narration Sakarat is sung by the participants. As the karvalyos go from house to house, each house offers something to these boys. This offering is called Vonti and consists of a blouse piece, coconut, grains of rice, betel nut etc.The locals entertain a belief that the boys who became women for this practise are vulnerable to the attack of evil spirits;hence they are protected by the village. ghodemodni

Ghodemodni is an important form of warrior folk dance performed during Shigmo in some village of sattari. It reflects the rich tradition of welfare inherited by the Maratha community that migrated from the ghat region with horses, swords and better techniques of walfare.

Once every two years, Mundalgiryache Mol in Sattari taluka's  Thane village, witnesses a spectacular ghodemodni performance, with 14 dancers decked in costumes that show them riding a horse each.
As per the sources says, " Once upon a time, the forested villagers were inhabited by tribals, locally known as Meshe. They were assassinated by the Marathas who had migrated from the Ghat region, under the leadership of Kolgiro and Mundalgiro.
Today, ghodemodni is celebrated in the village where the Marathas with the tradition of warfare settled. The dancers tie wooden effigies of horses to a bamboo covered with coloured cloth and wear a turban. Holding a swored in the right hand, the dancers march towards the temple of the village deity and perform the dance to the beat of drums.
